Six passes, run start to finish, no stopping early. Not one of them is allowed to select a technology; each can only disqualify one, and two of them can void the whole exercise. Whatever is still standing when you reach the bottom is your answer, and you will know precisely what eliminated the loser. Built for first-ring Ramsey County stock, from the postwar ranches behind the County Road B corridor to the condominium and townhome buildings near Rosedale.

Furnace Direct schedules licensed heat- and energy-recovery ventilator installations across Roseville and the neighbouring inner-ring suburbs. Nothing is sold over a counter here — the sheet exists so that a quote begins with an elimination you can point at rather than a preference somebody talked you into.
Selection frameworks have to compare unlike things. They ask you to weigh a foggy mirror against a dry throat against a memory of last February, and the weighting is invented by whoever wrote the page. Elimination never compares anything. It asks one narrow question at a time — does this observation make a technology indefensible — and a house can answer that without anyone's opinion. The side effect is that the result comes with its own reasoning attached: you do not end up with an unexplained recommendation, you end up with a core that is still standing and a short list of what knocked the other one over. If we disagree with the outcome, we have to argue with a specific pass, which is a far better conversation than arguing about a conclusion.
Every pass. Moisture behaves the same way against a cold pane on the fourth floor as it does in a rambler, and an occupancy count is an occupancy count. Units at the top of a stack often fire pass one hardest because warm moist air has been migrating upward all night with nowhere to go.
The install. Two weatherproof terminations on a shared exterior wall need association sign-off, corner units have elevations to work with that interior units simply do not, and where a facade is off limits the practical arrangement is a compact balanced unit and a carefully chosen pair of penetrations. Tell us the building type on the form and we scope it properly the first time.
Sweating glass in one bedroom and static everywhere else is not a house that needs two machines. It is almost always a house where air is not moving between floors: bedroom doors shut for eight hours, one undersized return doing the work of three, or a wet room exhausting into a space that then leaks it back. The honest read is that the building has a transport problem before it has a technology problem. Send both eliminations and say which floor each came from — that single detail redirects the survey before anyone prices a cabinet.
One core still standing? That result is enough to start a scoped Roseville quote.
Send my surviving coreAn empty sheet is a legitimate and fairly common result, particularly in houses that have never been tightened. It does not mean you are doing it wrong. It means the house has not produced evidence strong enough to disqualify anything, and the cheapest next step is measurement rather than purchase. Park an inexpensive hygrometer on an interior wall away from the vents, read it at the same early hour for seven days, and write down what the coldest window looked like each of those mornings. Seven lines of that will usually fire a pass that your memory could not. If it does not, we would rather tell you the house is fine for now than sell you an appliance it has not asked for.
The core that survived, the numbers of the passes that eliminated the other one, the decade the house went up, and whether you are in a detached home, a townhome, or a building with an association. If a cabinet or a damper is already tied into the return, a photograph of the data plate answers more questions than a model number recalled from memory. What comes back is either agreement with your survivor and a flat installed price, or a specific objection naming the pass we think misfired.
Quicker and less reliable. A page that picks for you has to weigh your symptoms against each other, and the weighting is where the guessing hides. Elimination only ever asks whether a specific piece of evidence rules something out, which is a question your house can answer on its own. The shortlist that survives is small and it is honest about how it got that way.
It means two passes fired in opposite directions, which is a distribution symptom rather than a selection problem. Almost always it is one floor behaving unlike another: closed bedroom doors, a single starved return upstairs, or a lower level that loads with moisture while the top of the house runs dry. One balanced core plus a distribution correction handles it, and the correction is usually the smaller half of the work.
Possibly, and the sheet is not the tool that answers it. An empty sheet means no complaint is strong enough to rule anything out yet, which is exactly when a week of dawn humidity readings at the coldest interior wall earns its keep. Send the week. If the readings are flat and the glass stays clear, the conversation may honestly be about air change rather than about moisture at all.
The passes read identically because they are about physics inside your unit. What changes is everything after the sheet: an exterior penetration on a shared facade is an association question before it is a mechanical one, corner units have exterior wall to work with while interior units may have very little, and stack or corridor arrangements sometimes make a compact balanced unit the only sensible arrangement. We would rather know that before quoting than discover it at the building.
Sometimes, and we will say so. An unmodified home from that era often exchanges enough air through gaps nobody designed that a recovery ventilator would be solving a problem the house does not yet have. That changes the day somebody insulates, re-glazes, or seals the rim — which is when pass four usually fires and the whole sheet comes alive.
Pass five and pass six first, because they can void everything else, and then pass one over pass three. A pane you photographed is harder evidence than a head count, and a head count is harder evidence than an impression about how a hallway feels. If your eliminations disagree, tell us which pass you are most confident about and why.
The survivor, the passes that eliminated the other one, and your building type. You get a licensed flat installed price.
Sibling pages in this batch argue by look-alike symptoms, by transect, and by how each core fails when it is the wrong pick.
